Contracts and options

Contracts

These can be drawn up with individual interpreters. Alternatively: a single contract with a consultant interpreter sets out all the relevant conditions and liabilities between the two parties. (The consultant interpreter then draws up individual contracts with the members of the team).

Options

Interpreters are always ready to give options for their services on specific dates. Options are commonly valid for a limited period. A client who backs out during this period incurs no charge. Should the interpreter wish to withdraw because he receives a firm offer elsewhere, he informs the original client, giving him the option of confirming or cancelling his assignment. Should the first client not confirm, the interpreter can accept the second, firm offer.
